There are multiple internet marketers on marketing forums talking about posting to high PR websites, it’s a wonder any of these marketers actually obtain search engine rankings for anything. Let’s get down to facts about these so called high pr websites that these “marketers” talk about.

First we are going to take a look at Google PageRank (pr). Pagerank is a metric that Google once applied for determining the actual effectiveness and quality of web pages. This search engine ranking factor is no longer high on Google’ algorithm like it once was. Matter fact it’s one of the lowest factors involved in rankings on Google.

The fact is a Pagerank 0 webpage can outrank a Pagerank 6 webpage any day of the week. This happens all the time and many wonder why. Well to start off with the pagerank given to a page does not mean anything. If I am promoting my PR 0 page within social media, through the use of youtube, by writing and posting articles, and creating PDF’s that I post on document sharing sites, then you better believe that my PR 0 page will outrank a PR 6 page that is just sitting there.

There are other factors involved here though that must be looked at. The quality of your post and quality of your content matters more than anything. Quality of content is high on the list of factors for Google rankings. The better quality your content is the better response you will get not only from readers but search engines also.

Now that you understand that let’s take a look at these so called high pr websites that many seem to talk about. There is no such thing as high pr websites because the pagerank factor that only Google gives a page is exactly what the name suggest “Page Rank”. Ezinearticles for instance may have a Pagerank 6 on the index page but the article webpages are all Pagerank 0.

The reason why is because the site is nothing more than a content farm with many junk articles. The website contains too many ads and links to pass any link juice to the inner pages. Which brings me to the point of these so called high pr websites. When you post on eznearticles you are in fact posting on an adsense filled article webpage that is Pagerank 0.

Other sites such as livejournal and jamespot are also considered to be high pr websites according to these marketers. They are correct that they have a high PR but that is not all pages. Your blog that you create on these sites are on a Pagerank 0 also. There is a big difference through because these are social media websites. Social media websites will be given different weight and pass along link juice.

The reason why is because they are not deemed a content farm by Google and they do not have a dozen ads around your content. This means your content is now more powerful and does hold weight in the eyes of the search engines. Social media websites are powerful when marketing your website because they are not deemed a content farm by Google.

The bottom line here is there are no high pr websites. It does matter what type of site you post your content on when looking for some Google love. Ezinearticles is by far the worst place to post your content because your content and links are devalued. Instead of wasting your time with what marketers call high pr websites which you should not be concerned about pagerank of any website.

Just go out there and market your website effectively and properly applying proper marketing strategies and methods.

Remember when you was a little and you used to take those wooden building blocks and stack them on top of each other to build a tower? It took some time to get it just right so your entire tower would not come crashing down. After you got the concept of how to build the tower then you decided it was not good enough and you wanted to make the blocks color coded. Then you wanted to line up all the letters to improve your tower building even more.

As you grew older and started to learn how to spell simple words, you built your tower with your building blocks so the letters would spell out words. With each step of playing with your building blocks you always wanted to improve the look, structure, and the usefulness of your tower. Each time you would improve your tower you would tell mommy to look because you wanted to show off your skills. Mommy would be so proud of you and encourage you to continue building that tower to perfection.

Looking back all those years ago we can now understand the importance of building blocks and how they must be on a solid foundation. Building an online business works very much the same way. You must have a solid foundation to build upon. Without that solid foundation your tower comes crashing down just like the building blocks did when you was a kid.

Once that foundation is solid then you can continue to build and improve your online business. With each step you make careful decisions to ensure the growth of your business. Making sure the strength of your business online grows stronger with each level you build. It is important to understand that building a business online takes careful planning and proper strategies.

This is true with most online business, Google is your biggest customer. So why are you not giving your biggest customer what they want ? It is proven the more you take care of your customers the better they will take care of you. Ever hear the phrase that the customer is always right ? Well, guess what ? The phrase is very much true and especially for online businesses that are wanting top rankings in search engines such as Google.

This is what makes Google your biggest customer. The fact is if you are not giving them what they want then they certainly are not going to give you what you desire most, top rankings. Many marketers try to cheat or manipulate the system but history tells us that they did not get what they wanted in the end.

Keyword stuffing, hiding links, making keywords the same color as the background of the site, useless bum marketing tactics, blog networks, exact match domains, poorly written content for backlinks, and more – All of these low level lame marketing tactics have been hit hard by Google. The reason being is because these tactics was not giving Google what they wanted.

I see everyday on forums where people say Google updates are unfair. My response to these people normally is something like: No their updates are completely fair, the lame marketing tactics you followed are unfair to those that actually desire to build a business and does proper marketing.

Google has stated on their own website what they have wanted all along, they have done this for years. The updates are nothing new really, Google is just cracking down on sites that never followed what they have been saying all along. You need to realize Google is a business just like any other business. They want to provide quality results to their users just as any business wants to provide quality to their customers.

If you give your biggest customer what they want and desire, then you certainly can be sure that they will give you what you desire in return. I am happy to say that I have never once been punished or smacked by Google with any of my sites. The reason why is because I give them exactly what they want.

Here we are again with another internet marketing myth spread around by some so called experts. Normally these myths (and there are many) are started because someone misunderstands a blog post by Google or a video that was released.

One thing you also need to keep in mind is that Google is a business just like any other business. They are not going to give you the keys to the kingdom and at times what they do release may be misunderstood.

Footer links bad for SEO purposes for instance. Many run around posting on forums and blogs on how bad footer links are or how their own site suffered due to footer links. Not only are these people misinformed but they spread myths because they “think” their site was smacked due to footer links.

The fact is these people have no idea why their sites was smacked. They just assume it was footer links because some so called experts claim footer links are bad for SEO. Footer links have nothing to do with any site being hurt by search engines or rankings.

If this was true then many sites would be smacked by search engines. For that matter you could even do some major damage to your competition. Just run around slapping footer links on all your own sites to hurt your competition. How stupid does that sound ?

What many misunderstand is the fact of far too many promotional links and ads on a site will hurt your rankings. If you have nothing but a link farm then obviously your rankings will suffer. Link farms provide no quality content at all for search users.

A copyright link or even navigational links in your footer is not going to hurt your SEO one single bit. The search engines understand and know the difference between promotional links and copyright links. There is no search engine that is going to penalize your site for adding a copyright to it.

Before you run around trusting every so called expert on things, why not test things out for yourself and obtain your own results. If you still believe what others say then all I have to say is good luck with your business because your competition thanks you for listening to so called experts.

I for one will keep my footer links and copyright links!

I have been online for well over 20 years and still till this day I am amazed at the amount of b.s. that goes around the internet marketing world. What is even more amazing though is how many people actually believe bogus claims. I am not making this post to change your mind or to tell you that you are wrong when you think domain age is a ranking factor.

Actually you can believe what you wish, after all it is your business. If you make money or not with your business does not hurt me one single bit. It only hurts you when you do not take the time to test things for yourself or listen to someone that has already tested and proven something.

The reason why these so called SEO experts spread these myths such as domain age is a ranking factor is because they normally have something to sell you. This may be junky software or the next greatest wordpress SEO plugin or even an ebook.

On the other hand, I have nothing to sell you and I am not pushing anything on you. The fact is domain age has nothing to do with rankings of your website. If it did then all someone would need to do is buy up a large block of aged domain names and dominate any niche.

Seriously use your head and think for yourself when dealing with these so called experts. While the age of a domain name has nothing to do with rankings, the length of time a domain is “INDEXED” in Google does have some weight on rankings. The exact weight it has nobody knows but Google, just having a domain indexed for a long period of time is not going to get you the rankings though.

You must have many of the other factors along with the indexed time. Factors such as quality content, proper on-page SEO, proper off-page SEO, social validation, and etc.

When you are searching for your article marketing forum try to check that the information on the site is relevant and up to date. You will be able to see how proven the advice is by looking at comments and replies on the threads. Good solid advice will normally be followed by comments made by people that have used the system successfully.

This is the type of place you want to become involved with. Forums with a good community are normally there to help you grow your business without simply wanting you to buy something from them.

An article marketing forum that is suitable for you and your business will possess all of the above qualities and then some. In an article marketing forum like that you are far more likely to learn some effective marketing strategies, as well as making some fantastic connections along the way. Remember as you become more successful you can also help others by passing on your expertise, and this is when you can really begin to feel successful.

Marketing metrics are the statistics about your website, such as bounce rates, unique hits and visitor demographics. Measuring your marketing metrics is important to some degree to gain necessary insight to increase your sales and conversion rates. Nevertheless, business is about making money. Therefore, certain metrics are important to evaluate, while other metrics are less significant and require less attention. Recognizing the insignificant data and not obsessing over the small details will reserve your valuable time for more important marketing efforts.

As a business owner or internet marketer your time is valuable. Although analyzing your marketing metrics is essential to visualize the state of your business, performing actual marketing tasks to generate leads, sales and conversions are far more important. In other words, wasting valuable time on insignificant metrics may do more harm to your business than help.

Novice marketers will spend a large percentage of their valuable time attempting to measure every minuscule marketing metric down to the nTH degree. The danger here is they will fail to exercise good business practices in promoting their websites and ultimately ignore the significant factors that will help improve their traffic, conversion rates and lead generation. Focus your efforts are the most significant data and look at those marketing metrics for avenues to improve.

One example of an insignificant marketing metric is the bounce rate on your website. A bounce rate is the percentage of visitors that landed on your page and then left that page without clicking a link, or visiting any additional pages on your site. A simple explanation of bounce rate is like throwing a rubber ball against a concrete wall, the result; it immediately bounces right off.

Marketers and SEO experts will discuss the importance of bounce rates and analyze how to improve their bounce rate. However, improving the bounce rate may actually become a redundant and counterproductive measure. Let me explain what bounce rate really is so you fully understand. Bounce rate means visitors went to one page and left the site, they followed no links. For example a single page site should have a 100% bounce rate because there are no links to follow.

Now, here is the problem with analyzing your bounce rate and why it is largely an insignificant metric. There are multiple factors involved, behind the REASONS for a bounce, that you obtaining a true bounce rate is largely impossible. The bounce rate (read that, the REASON a visitor left your site) can be skewed by bots, surf exchange hits, bots from bookmarking sites, googlebot, spiders from baidu, web scrapers gleaning your content or emails, and virtually 1,000 other different factors. All of these EVENTS will distort and pervert your true bounce rate.

Instead of expending valuable time and effort wondering how to lower your bounce rate. You should instead focus on the visitors to your website who stayed for a longer time (say, a few minutes) and did not take action. Maybe Jane visited and sat on the page, followed a few links and then left without signing up for your opt-in list or buying something. It is Jane that you want to be focused on and not those that came and left in 10 seconds.

In other words, focus your efforts on learning what the non-bounce visitors did as opposed to the bounce rate itself. This is where the other metrics such as leads and sales come into play. Let’s take Jane for instance, she visited and stayed, we know that, but “why” did she leave without opting in or clicking further links? Did she come to your site through a buying keyword or an information keyword? Find out HOW Jane got there and you can learn from HER behavior!

The non-bouncing visitor is the REAL metric you need to focus on. For example, maybe Jane came to your site for information about how to build blue widgets and NOT where to buy blue widgets. In this case, your usage of an informational keyword has targeted Jane, therefore, she will leave your site when she discovers that your site is about BUYING blue widgets. Choosing the right keyword for the TARGET audience is a discovery you will make when you examine your non-bounce rate visitors.

In conclusion, if you examine the bounce rate and then attempt to GUESS why someone did not stay or click, you will drive yourself insane and waste a lot of valuable time and resources. Study more of what made the visitor stay or click and then repeat that method! After all, the spiders, bots, scrapers, and googlebot is NOT going to stay no matter what! Focus on who is staying and how you can better serve them as a customer!
