Here we are again with another internet marketing myth spread around by some so called experts. Normally these myths (and there are many) are started because someone misunderstands a blog post by Google or a video that was released.

One thing you also need to keep in mind is that Google is a business just like any other business. They are not going to give you the keys to the kingdom and at times what they do release may be misunderstood.

Footer links bad for SEO purposes for instance. Many run around posting on forums and blogs on how bad footer links are or how their own site suffered due to footer links. Not only are these people misinformed but they spread myths because they “think” their site was smacked due to footer links.

The fact is these people have no idea why their sites was smacked. They just assume it was footer links because some so called experts claim footer links are bad for SEO. Footer links have nothing to do with any site being hurt by search engines or rankings.

If this was true then many sites would be smacked by search engines. For that matter you could even do some major damage to your competition. Just run around slapping footer links on all your own sites to hurt your competition. How stupid does that sound ?

What many misunderstand is the fact of far too many promotional links and ads on a site will hurt your rankings. If you have nothing but a link farm then obviously your rankings will suffer. Link farms provide no quality content at all for search users.

A copyright link or even navigational links in your footer is not going to hurt your SEO one single bit. The search engines understand and know the difference between promotional links and copyright links. There is no search engine that is going to penalize your site for adding a copyright to it.

Before you run around trusting every so called expert on things, why not test things out for yourself and obtain your own results. If you still believe what others say then all I have to say is good luck with your business because your competition thanks you for listening to so called experts.

I for one will keep my footer links and copyright links!

I have been online for well over 20 years and still till this day I am amazed at the amount of b.s. that goes around the internet marketing world. What is even more amazing though is how many people actually believe bogus claims. I am not making this post to change your mind or to tell you that you are wrong when you think domain age is a ranking factor.

Actually you can believe what you wish, after all it is your business. If you make money or not with your business does not hurt me one single bit. It only hurts you when you do not take the time to test things for yourself or listen to someone that has already tested and proven something.

The reason why these so called SEO experts spread these myths such as domain age is a ranking factor is because they normally have something to sell you. This may be junky software or the next greatest wordpress SEO plugin or even an ebook.

On the other hand, I have nothing to sell you and I am not pushing anything on you. The fact is domain age has nothing to do with rankings of your website. If it did then all someone would need to do is buy up a large block of aged domain names and dominate any niche.

Seriously use your head and think for yourself when dealing with these so called experts. While the age of a domain name has nothing to do with rankings, the length of time a domain is “INDEXED” in Google does have some weight on rankings. The exact weight it has nobody knows but Google, just having a domain indexed for a long period of time is not going to get you the rankings though.

You must have many of the other factors along with the indexed time. Factors such as quality content, proper on-page SEO, proper off-page SEO, social validation, and etc.
